                                GENERAL INFORMATION                               

HISTORY:  Mobile Christian School was founded in 1961. The school is a private school in west Mobile with an average enrollment of 700+ students in Kindergarten through twelfth grade. Mobile Christian has been recognized as a Blue Ribbon School.

MISSION STATEMENT: The mission of Mobile Christian School is to provide a quality education in a Christian environment which develops the entire person and produces young people with both the desire and ability to serve God, family, and fellow man.

PROGRAM:  High school students are recommended for courses appropriate to their ability levels. Placement in courses is based on academic performance and standardized test scores. Students take a college prep or advanced curriculum. Course recommendations are made by the teaching and guidance faculty with administrative approval. We are a comprehensive high school, offering a range of academic courses and extracurricular programs. No vocational programs are available.

5 community service hours per year in grades 9-12 are required for a College Prep Diploma.  10 community service hours per year in grades 9-12 are required for an Advanced Diploma.

GRADING AND CLASS RANK: A numerical grade system is used for permanent records and transcripts. In determining quarter and semester grades, teachers use the following numerical/letter grading scale. The 100-point scale is used for determining GPA/RANK and in figuring final averages in the lower grades. Advanced classes, including physics and calculus are weighted.

FACULTY:  Teaching faculty, professional staff and office support personnel number sixty-five. A 46 member professional staff averages 9 years of experience at MCS and 25% hold Masters degrees or higher. Personnel are supervised by an administrative team which includes Mr. Tommy Wasden, President; Mr. David Pahman, Headmaster; Ms. Lorie Minor,  Elementary Principal; Mr. Brad Blanton, Middle/ High School Principal; Mr. Joey Adams, Dean of Students; Mrs. Christal Coker, Guidance Counselor; and Mr. George Holcomb, Athletic Director. Mobile Christian is operated by a twelve member independent board of trustees, all of whom are members of the local churches of Christ. 

STANDARDIZED ACHIEVEMENT TESTS: Stanford Achievement Tests are given yearly in grades K5 through seven.  Students in 8th and 9th grade take the EXPLORE test. Tenth grade students take the PLAN and eleventh graders take the PSAT.  All seniors take either the SAT or the ACT.
